Full-time Pre-Apprentice Sheet Metal worker

We are looking for a full-time Pre-Apprentice Sheet Metal worker, which is an entry-level position designed to provide on-the-job training and hands-on experience to individuals looking to pursue a career as a skilled sheet metal worker. Under the supervision of experienced workers and supervisors, the Pre-Apprentice will assist in fabricating, assembling, installing, and maintaining sheet metal products used in construction and manufacturing processes.

The responsibilities for this position include:

  • Assist with measuring, cutting, shaping, and assembling metal materials according to specifications.
  • Help with the installation of sheet metal products, such as ductwork, commercial, and industrial settings.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, and machinery, under supervision, to assist with basic sheet metal tasks.
  • Support senior workers in bending, welding, and soldering sheet metal pieces to form various products.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean and safe work environment by following proper safety protocols and using personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Help with loading and unloading materials, ensuring proper handling and storage of materials.
  • Follow all work instructions and technical drawings to ensure precision and quality of work.
  • Attend training sessions and apprenticeships, as directed, to gain knowledge of the sheet metal trade.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities to perform duties effectively:

  • Basic knowledge of hand tools, power tools, and mechanical systems.
  • Strong willingness to learn and develop skills in the sheet metal trade.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings, blueprints, and instructions is a plus.
  • Familiarity with basic safety practices and willingness to adhere to safety regulations.

Required Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including lifting heavy materials and working in various weather conditions.

Starting Wage: $22.56/ hour, which will increase in May.
